The weather played havoc on Thursday at the Țiriac Open, where, of the seven scheduled matches, only one was completed. The Portuguese-Romanian pair formed by Nuno Borges and Victor Cornea passed the Ștefan Haită/ Rareș Teodor Pieleanu double in the first round with 6-3, 6-2. On Friday, the players who did not enter the court in singles have to play two games, weather permitting.

Persistent rain once again disrupted the program at the Țiriac Open, as it did on Monday. On Thursday, seven matches were scheduled, four singles, all from the second round, and three doubles, one from the first round and two from the quarterfinals.

The start time of the matches was 11:00, but as the day progressed, the organizers started removing matches from the schedule. First, the doubles quarterfinal matches disappeared. Then they hoped that they could at least play the doubles match in the first round, in which three Romanians were involved, as well as two singles matches.

After being moved from the Central Court to Court 1, the pairs Nuno Borges/Victor Cornea and Ștefan Haită/Rareș Teodor Pieleanu, the beneficiaries of a wild card, faced the light rain. The former prevailed in an hour of play with 6-3, 6-2.

After the matches between Sebastian Baez – Tituuan Drouguet and Daniel Merida – Adrian Mannarino were postponed until Friday, Stefano Sakellaridis and Fabian Marozsan, the favorite 3, entered the Center Court. They played two games, the match being interrupted by rain at the score of 1-1, 40-40, to be resumed on Friday.

The match between Daniel Altmaier and Dino Prizmic, also counting for the second round, has not started, it will be played on Friday. The winners of the games in the second round have to play two matches on Friday, they will also play in the quarter-finals, if it doesn't rain in Bucharest.

The organizers informed that the refund is not possible because a match was played on Thursday, but spectators who had tickets on Thursday can use them on Friday.

Friday, eight singles matches at the Țiriac Open

Slovakian Alex Molcan, coming from the qualifiers and who meets the Argentinian Mariano Navone in the quarter-finals, experienced what it's like to play two games in one day. On Tuesday, he wrapped up his last-round qualifying match with Jay Clarke from 4-1 down on Monday to finish 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (4), then cruised past Matteo Arnaldi 6-3, 6-1 in the first round of the main draw.

It was a very hard day for me. The first match lasted over three hours, and then, in two hours, another match followed, which was a little faster. I had great difficulties in terms of my physical ability, I'm glad I survived. I woke up quite tired on Wednesday, but I warmed up well before the game. I took some electrolytes and everything I could and focused on the game.” explained the one who eliminated Gabriel Diallo, the main favorite, on Wednesday.

Eight singles matches are scheduled for Friday, four from the second round and four from the quarterfinals, and four from the doubles, all from the quarterfinals.
