There will be no fuel rationing. Motyka reassures you: Deliveries are fully secured

Currently, there is no risk of interruption of fuel supplies to Poland; all supplies are fully secured – assured the Minister of Energy, Miłosz Motyka, on Wednesday. He emphasized that the ministry would analyze the situation related to fuel tourism.

– From the point of view of security of supplies, from the point of view of securing the next weeks, Poland is on the “safe side of power”. We have these deliveries fully secured. (…) We do not see any risk of interruption of supplies, Motyka said at Wednesday's press conference.

When asked whether the Ministry of Energy was considering introducing restrictions on fuel consumption, he indicated that the ministry did not envisage such actions. – We do not anticipate them (…) because we do not see the risk of interruption of supplies – he added.

He noted that the Ministry of Energy will analyze the situation related to fuel tourism. – We have analyzed the exact mechanisms on how we can intervene in the event of this problem – he said, without pointing to specific examples. – There is no such threat today. Today, stock levels and fuel supply are at the appropriate level. There is no excessive increase in this area, he emphasized.

From Tuesday, maximum prices for petrol and diesel apply in Poland. The mechanism for calculating them was introduced by the amendment to the Act on Crude Oil Stocks. The maximum price is published daily by the Minister of Energy by way of an announcement.

On Wednesday, a liter of EU95 petrol costs no more than PLN 6.21, EU98 petrol – PLN 6.81, and diesel oil – PLN 7.66. Next Thursday, a liter of EU95 petrol will cost no more than PLN 6.23, EU98 petrol – PLN 6.84, and diesel oil – PLN 7.65 – according to the Wednesday announcement of the Minister of Energy.

On Tuesday, the regulation of the Minister of Finance and Economy amending the regulation on reduced rates of tax on goods and services entered into force. According to its content, 8% will apply until March 31. VAT rate on fuels.

In turn, on Monday, the regulation of the Ministry of Economy and Economy on reducing excise tax rates on certain motor fuels entered into force. The reduced excise tax rate will be valid until April 15 this year. In the case of gasoline, it is PLN 1,239/1,000 liters; and diesel oils and biocomponents constituting independent fuels – PLN 880/1000 liters.

According to the amendment to the Excise Duty Act published on Saturday, the minister responsible for finance will be able to temporarily reduce the rates of this fuel levy by regulation until June 30.

According to calculations by the Ministry of Finance, the excise tax reduction will cost the budget PLN 700 million per month, and the VAT reduction will cost PLN 900 million per month. (PAP)
