The CFR Cluj club published the financial report, consulted by GSP, and the conclusions are as follows: the group from Gruia recorded total operating income of approximately 9.0 million euros, but expenses reached approximately 14.8 million euros, which generated a net loss of approximately 6.2 million euros.

Last year, the team patronized by Ioan Varga had a profit of approximately 630,000 euros, the first year in “plus”, after a break of four years. From 2018 to 2023, the team patronized by Nelu Varga was on the plus side only once. It happened in 2019, when the accounting figures indicated a profit of 1.1 million euros.

What are the most important sources of income for CFR Cluj:

  • sponsorships and advertising – 2.6 million euros (600,000 euros more than in 2024.

  • TV rights = 2.6 million euros (200,000 euros more than in 2024)

  • UEFA revenue = €2.4 million (up €900,000 from 2024)

  • tickets = 0.6 million euros (down from last year, when the “railways” collected 725,000 euros from tickets)

  • other income = 0.7 million euros

  • commercial activities = 0.1 million euros

  • CFR has partnerships with the following companies: DON.ro, Nike, Dragon Star Courier, My Place Residence, Avinto, AxA, Coca-Cola, BNB, Wassertal, Agrosel, Izvorul Minunilor, ZeroBet, Modena, Tennant, Tarsin, OMP and Medline.

In parallel, the expenses with salaries and employee benefits represented the main financial burden, amounting to around 9.4 million euros, out of a total of 14.8 million euros.

An essential chapter, that of transfers, brought an almost non-existent profit, of approximately 10,000 euros, given that in the previous season the club reported earnings of over 6.2 million euros from this area.

Huge debts in Gruia

The debts of the CFR Cluj club rise to a significant level, with short-term debts of approximately 24.3 million euros, of which:

  • credits in current accounts and other loans amount to around 5.1 million euros

  • debts resulting from player transfers and loans reach approximately 5.4 million euros

  • the obligations towards the companies within the group and other related parties are around 1.2 million euros

  • debts to employees amount to approximately 2.6 million euros

  • debts to the tax authorities at around 1.9 million euros

  • the “other debts, subsidies and income in advance” category totals approximately 8.2 million euros

  • the club also records provisions of approximately 0.1 million euros and other minor debts of approximately 0.01 million euros

In the long term, the debts are approximately 1.2 million euros, representing obligations to the tax authorities. Thus, the total debts reach approximately 25.5 million euros, highlighting a considerable financial pressure on the club.
