The United Arab Emirates is preparing to help the US and other allies in opening the Strait of Hormuz by force, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing its own sources. So far, no Arab state in the Middle East has participated in the war with Iran.

The UAE is lobbying for a draft UN Security Council resolution authorizing the country to take such actions, and Emirati diplomats have called on unspecified European and Asian countries to form a coalition aimed at opening the Strait of Hormuz by force, the daily reported.
The representative of the UAE said in an interview with the newspaper that the Iranian government thinks it is fighting for survival, which is why it is ready to drag the global economy, weakened due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, into the abyss.
Iran bombed the Emirates more intensively than all other countries in the region, noted Anadolu Agency. For this reason, the traditionally neutral position of the UAE has changed. The state is considering, among other things, engaging in demining in the Strait of Hormuz and providing other support services.
In a statement quoted by the Wall Street Journal, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that “there is broad global consensus that freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz must be preserved.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi noted that the disruptions in this waterway were met with widespread international condemnation.
After the US-Israeli attack on February 28, Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz for ships transporting oil and gas from the Persian Gulf to Asian and European countries. (PAP)
