A Muscovite sent the kidnapper of his dog, who demanded Bitcoin for the hostage, to a mental hospital.
In the summer of 2021, a Moscow resident was walking his beagle when another dog walker joined him. During a walk, the beagle's owner told a new acquaintance that he adores his pet and is even ready to pay a ransom if he is kidnapped.
Soon the Muscovite had to make sure that it was better not to be frank with strangers. In February 2022, he was attacked by two Asian men who took his dog. A ransom of one bitcoin was demanded for the bashu (~$40,000 as of February 2022).
It didn’t take long to find the organizer of the crime: the police almost immediately got on the trail of that very new acquaintance. The investigation revealed that he suffers from a chronic mental disorder and is addicted to drugs.
The court sent the man for compulsory psychiatric treatment to a hospital. He appealed the verdict, but was refused.
