On March 31, Krasnoyarsk hosted another meeting between Mayor Sergei Vereshchagin and citizens. This time the head of the city talked with residents of the Zheleznodorozhny district.
One of the questions voiced by a resident of Kalinina Street was related to the installation of cellular antennas. The woman said that she works at school No. 72 as a security guard. Under the “Safe City” program, new equipment was installed in the institution, which, according to Krasnoyarsk, poses a threat. The woman believes that the technology is poisoning her and her children.
In addition, she noticed the communication towers nearby, as well as the antennas on the roof.
“I tell the master: 'Are you installing 4G and amplifiers? It will already be 5 and 6G! This is already a weapon, you understand?' There is chaos with antennas in our city,” said the city resident.
The mayor reacted calmly to the outrage.
“As far as I know, antennas are installed only when there is a decision from the owners, because this is common property. We need to figure it out. Each school is accepted by Rospotrebnadzor by September 1. They are very careful to ensure that all sanitary rules are followed. Cellular towers have a sanitary protection zone, within which there should be no objects, including social facilities. If you have any specific addresses, let us work it out,” Sergei Vereshchagin responded with restraint.
Let’s add that the myth that cell towers negatively affect people’s health or are actually disguised “irradiators” is a popular “conspiracy theory.” In fact, base stations produce non-ionizing radiation, which does not have enough energy to damage cells or DNA. According to Rospotrebnadzor, mobile phones have a greater impact than towers. However, this threat is exaggerated: there have been no real cases of a person falling ill with a particular disease precisely from exposure to a cell phone.
We described in detail what questions Krasnoyarsk residents ask the new mayor in the material.
