Ilie Bolojan: The gendarmes must provide the order on the streets, not just the guarding of the goals

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Friday that some of the gendarmes who ensure the guarding of some objectives should be directed to operative missions, in the street, to increase public safety. He stressed that the 20-30% reduction of guardians would mean more orders in problem areas.

“We have almost 10,000 gendarmes who are in guarding various goals. If we reduce their number from 20-30% and put them on the street, we will have more public order and safety in the areas where we have problems,” said Bolojan, in a press conference.
The head of the government also pointed out the need to integrate dispatchers, showing that, at present, four separate centers operate in a county residence.
“These people can be in the streetand supervision means more safety, fewer crimes and contraventions in crowded areas. This means fewer people in guard, dispatchers and offices, but more in the field, where there are problems ”the prime minister explained.
The statements come in the context of the reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, discussed Monday by the minister Cătălin Predoiu with the operative structures of the institution, with trade unionists and representatives of the Municipal Association. The reform aims to make the activity more efficient, reorganizations and structures, as well as increased retirement age, but officials have also stated that there will be no availability.
