Inflation in Poland. The Minister of Finance announced the forecasts

Andrzej Domański was asked on Polsat News about the inflation forecast in 2026. – This, of course, depends on how long the conflict in the Middle East will last. The forecast of the Ministry of Finance for 2026 assumes inflation at 3%. – said the minister on Monday. He emphasized that these predictions are valid.

Domański pointed out that many analysts and banks raise their inflation forecasts to 3%. As he noted, before the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East, these experts predicted that inflation this year would remain around 2%.
The minister emphasized that a higher level of inflation translates into more cautious purchasing decisions by consumers, and rising fuel prices may additionally limit Poles' willingness to spend money.
Referring to possible revision of the budget for 2026Domański said: – At the moment, I don't see such a need.

The minister also referred to the proposal of PiS vice-president Przemysław Czarnek regarding reducing the VAT rate on food from 5 to 0 percent. Domański noted that food prices, unlike fuel prices, are growing “with very low dynamics.” He added that in the last month, gasoline prices increased by almost 30 percent and diesel prices by over 45 percent.
— Our government responds to what is happening in the economy. We did not cause this crisis. We did not start the conflict in the Middle East, but we are the ones who must take action. We are constantly working on solutions that can limit price increases in the economy. At the moment, food price increases remain at a very moderate level – concluded the minister.
On Monday, Czarnek announced that PiS had submitted a draft bill to reduce it by the end of this year. VAT on food from 5%. to 0 percent and will request that an extraordinary session of the Sejm be convened on Tuesday.

Maximum fuel price
Referring to the new regulations aimed at limiting retail fuel prices, Domański emphasized that the change will be visible from Tuesday. – Tomorrow we should see both lower VAT and lower excise duty on petrol and diesel oil – he pointed out.
The first announcement by the Minister of Energy regarding the maximum prices of fuels – gasoline and diesel oil in Poland – was published in Monitor Polski on Monday. The maximum price for 95 petrol is PLN 6.16 per liter. For diesel oil it is PLN 7.60 per liter.
The head of the Ministry of Finance also assured that no changes are planned in the thirteenth and fourteenth pensions or in other benefits. When asked about the 800 plus program, Domański emphasized that no discussions were taking place on this matter.
