Thanks to the government's CPN (Fuel Prices Lower) fuel price reduction package, drivers will save approximately PLN 60 when filling a 50-liter tank – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Tuesday. He emphasized that the actions are extraordinary and result from the global crisis caused by the war.

The Prime Minister said before the government meeting that the state's intervention in pricing mechanisms is extraordinary and is a response to the global crisis caused by, among others, war in the Middle East.
As he pointed out, in conditions of conflict and high volatility on commodity markets, it is necessary to use non-standard tools to protect consumers against excessive increases in fuel prices.
– Our CPN mechanism has no impact on how much fuel costs on global exchanges. As you have noticed, the war and a certain type of political expression of politicians involved in this war, especially the President of the United States, make these fluctuations quite dynamic – said the head of government.
From Tuesday, maximum fuel prices are in force, set by the announcement of the Minister of Energy published on Monday in Monitor Polski. A liter of 95 petrol will cost no more than PLN 6.16, 98 petrol – PLN 6.76 and diesel oil – PLN 7.60. From Tuesday, the discount is also reduced to 8%. VAT on fuel.
Prime Minister: For now, we are not dealing with excessive fuel tourism
Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that for now there is no evidence of excessive fuel tourism from neighboring countries. He assured that the government and relevant state institutions will monitor the situation so that there is no threat to Poland's energy and fuel security.
From Tuesday, maximum fuel prices apply (as part of the government CPN package “Fuel Prices Lower”), which are announced the day before in Monitor Polski.
Before the start of Tuesday's government meeting, the Prime Minister announced that he had ordered his ministers to monitor the so-called fuel tourism, i.e. a situation when drivers from neighboring countries come to refuel in a country where fuel prices are lower.
The head of government recalled that Slovakia had introduced, among others: higher fuel prices for foreign drivers and refueling limits, which – as he assessed – is quite a technically difficult and risky solution.
He assured that the government is monitoring the situation after the introduction of the CPN package. – For now, we are not dealing with any mass tourism (fuel – PAP), mainly from the West, i.e. trips to Poland for cheaper fuel, but there is no doubt that there will be people willing to buy cheaper fuel in Poland, especially from beyond the Western border – Tusk admitted.
He added that this is also the “best possible review” of the government's actions.
– Indeed, fuel here is as cheap as possible, very much cheaper than, for example, in Germany. But this also means full concentration and vigilance of all state institutions responsible for energy and fuel security, so as not to make any mistakes here – emphasized the Prime Minister.
CPN – will there be a fuel shortage? A dangerous element of government intervention
I didn't think I would ever write about CPNs. For those who remember them, they were synonymous with fuel shortages and petrol rationing after waiting in a long queue. It was unimaginable that someone would treat us to such a scenario again. And yet – writes Krzysztof Kolany, chief analyst of Bankier.pl.
