Poles want wage transparency. Results of the latest CBOS survey

After eight years, CBOS again asked working Poles about their knowledge about the earnings of their co-workers. The results are not surprising.

Currently, over three fifths of respondents – 62%. — declares knowledge of the remuneration of at least some of the people with whom he cooperates. Compared to a similar study conducted in 2018. there was a slight decrease of 1 percentage point.
The study shows that the main factor influencing respondents' declarations is the size of the workplace. People employed in companies and institutions with fewer than 10 employees claim much more often than their counterparts from larger entities that they know how much other people in their workplace earn.
Pay transparency in the company. Poles want information about earnings
The CBOS survey also shows that according to as many as 92 percent respondents, every employer should have clear rules for determining remuneration, promotions and raises.
Additionally, nearly two thirds of respondents – 64%. — thinks so employees should be able to request written information from their employer about the average earnings of people performing the same or similar work. Such information should also include a breakdown by gender.

In turn, 66 percent respondents believed that the employer should not have the right to prohibit employees from sharing information about their remuneration.
Changes in the Labor Code. Greater transparency in earnings
On December 24, 2025, an amendment to the Labor Code entered into force, which partially implements the EU directive on pay transparency. It obliges employers to include salary ranges in recruitment advertisements.
The employer must indicate the proposed remuneration or its range in the advertisement, as well as inform the candidate about the remuneration rules resulting from, for example, work regulations or a collective agreement.

Additionally, the employer cannot require the candidate to disclose information about remuneration in the current job.
