Peter Magyar without an invitation to public media. Orban avoids confrontation

“Peter Magyar did not receive an invitation to appear on public media during the campaign, and the last invitation from public television M1 or (public) Radio Kossuth was received in September 2024.” — wrote TISZA in response to Telex's question.
The portal also quoted a message from the public media, which asked about the invitation to the leader of the Hungarian opposition. “Before we answer this question, we consider it important that (…) your editorial office clearly defines from what sources it receives foreign financing and what is the share of these sources in its activities,” it wrote in response, avoiding a response to the question asked about the campaign.
The pre-election debate is in doubt. Orban rejects the idea
Telex also did not receive an answer to the question about a possible plan to organize a pre-election debate of the candidates for prime minister. According to a poll conducted by 21 Research Center in late January, almost two-thirds of Hungarians would like Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Peter Magyar to face off in a pre-election debate.
Orban has been categorically rejecting this idea for months, claiming that his opponent is not Magyar, but “the Brussels heads of his party: Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, and Manfred Weber, president of the European People's Party,” Telex recalled.
The leader of TISZA assured, however, that he is ready to take part in the debate, as long as Prime Minister Orban also takes part in it.
Parliamentary elections in Hungary
Parliamentary elections in Hungary will be held on April 12. The opposition TISHA party is ahead of Prime Minister Orban's Fidesz in most independent polls. In a March survey by Median, this party gained a 23-point advantage among decisive voters. Polls from centers linked to the government indicate that Fidesz has an advantage of several percent.
