Dămăroaia, the neighborhood in Bucharest Noi where people have been left without access to lakes

On the outskirts of Bucharest, in 1926, the Dămăroaia neighborhood was formed, a settlement that gravitated around Bucharest Noi.

The former place where the demobilized citizens of Bucharest of the First World War received free land for houses. Land and nothing more, so naturally Dămăroaia would quickly become a collection of shacks, an atypical slum.

Today's Dămăroaia is one of the 6 neighborhoods that gravitate around the larger New Bucharest; together, all seven make up an urban area that has the potential to become an arrondissement of Bucharest, even with the name “New Bucharest”, in case of an eventual administrative reorganization, experts believe.

Read, on B365.ro, how the people here were left without access to the lakes and the mighty Dămăroaia, which gave the place its name.
