A new message sent by the supreme leader of Iran. A letter addressed to an ally in the region

Iran's ambassador to Iraq delivered a personal message from Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to the head of the Supreme Islamic Council in Baghdad, writes Iran International, citing Iranian media. The announcement comes amid conflicting reports about the state of health of the new head of the Tehran regime, and Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared in public or sent video messages.

Ambassador Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh met Sheikh Hammam Hamoudi and delivered the message to him during the meeting.

The statement published in Iranian media said the ambassador “appreciated the sincere positions and prominent role of Sheikh Hammam Hamoudi” and praised the “courageous and clear position of the higher religious authority in Najaf regarding the US-Israeli aggression.”

He also praised the “remarkable solidarity of the Iraqi people with the Islamic Republic”. The quoted source does not refer to the actual content of the message sent by Khamenei to the Shia religious leader in Iraq.

Uncertainties related to the fate of Mojtaba Khamenei

Mojtaba Khamenei's previous message was also in the form of a written message on March 20, on the occasion of the Persian New Year. He then proclaimed victory over the enemies of the Islamic Republic.

“At this moment, thanks to the special unity that has been created between you, our compatriots, despite religious, intellectual, cultural and political differences, the enemy has been defeated,” said the message attributed to Khamenei.

He praised the Iranians for “building a national defensive front and bastions in cities, neighborhoods and mosques and for applying such bewildering blows that the enemy fell into contradictions and irrational statements.”

US President Donald Trump said on March 16 that it was unclear whether Iran's new leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, was still alive, given reports that he had been injured in an airstrike.

“We don't know … if he's dead or not. I will say that nobody has seen him, which is unusual,” Trump said during a White House event.

After Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed in the first attacks launched by the US and Israel on Iranian territory, on February 28, Tehran announced that his son, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, had been appointed as the country's successor.
