Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergei Riabkov, said Moscow will not allow Ukraine's armed forces to “use any break to rest and regroup” without “eliminating the deep causes of the conflict.”

The Russian Foreign Deputy Minister has made these statements in an interview with the official press agency TASS, according to Ukrainska Pravda.

Riabkov mentioned that the return of US President Donald Trump to the White House has become a “cautious optimism” in Russia in normalizing relations with the United States.

He stressed that Russian leader Vladimir Putin, during the telephone calls with Trump, “confirmed the basic directive on the need to eliminate the profound causes of conflict in political and diplomatic efforts.”

Riabkov has warned that if the Kremlin conditions are not met, Russia will act to prevent Ukraine's armed forces to take advantage of “any break to rest and regroup.”

According to the Russian official, the position of the Kremlin is well-known by Washington and the threats with sanctions will not change it.

“It is strange that those hot heads in the US Senate, who have lost their last remnants of reason, ignore this reality. We will continue the efforts to achieve the goals of the special military operation [termenul de propagandă folosit de Rusia pentru războiul declanșat în Ucraina – n.r.]. Thus, the decision and choice depend on Washington, Trump, ”said Sergei Riabkov.

Medvedev: “This is …”

At the beginning of the week, Dmitri Medvedev, the deputy of Vladimir Putin in the Russian Security Council and former president of the Russian Federation, said that the true purpose of the so-called peace discussions with Ukraine in Istanbul is “ensuring a fast and complete victory” of Moscow.

“The negotiations in Istanbul do not have the purpose of reaching a compromise of peace in the delusional conditions imposed by someone else, but ensuring our rapid victory and the complete destruction of the neo -Nazi regime,” Medvedev wrote on Telegram. “This is about the Russian memorandum published yesterday,” referring to the list of Russian claims presented Monday to Ukraine at the Istanbul negotiations.
