Ukraine attacked the largest Russian oil ports in the Leningrad Oblast, i.e. in Primorsk on the border with Finland and in Ust-Luga, with drones. As a result of infrastructure damage and security threats, the export of crude oil and fuels from both ports was suspended at the beginning of the week.

Radio ERR reported that the terminals located approximately 1,000 km from the borders of Ukraine are the most important for the so-called ships. shadow fleets that transport sanctioned Russian oil. The Estonian broadcaster emphasized that both ports are responsible for over 60% of the total. export of raw materials, which directly translates into Russia's financing of the war in Ukraine.

The Estonian Navy, whose tasks also include monitoring underwater infrastructure, is currently most concerned about possible environmental contamination caused by stranded ships.

Radio ERR emphasized that vessels used to transport oil are usually in poor technical condition, do not have appropriate insurance, fly under the flags of exotic countries, and do not have sufficiently qualified crews on board.
