The medical tests carried out confirmed the seriousness of the injury, and Raphinha left the Brazil training camp, according to Marca.

The striker had to leave the field during Thursday's friendly match between Brazil and France, score 1-2. “Raphinha played very well but he had a problem at the end of the first half and we had to change him. He felt some muscle discomfort”Carlo Ancelotti said, adding that the results of further investigations are awaited.

These investigations confirmed that it was not just discomfort, but a significant muscle injury. According to the statement issued by the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF), the injury is located in the posterior muscles of the right thigh.

Recovery could take about a month. This means Raphinha will miss the Champions League quarter-final double leg against Atletico Madrid.

The official statement from the Brazilian federation states the following: “On Friday, coach Carlo Ancelotti decided to waive the services of footballers Raphinha and Wesley. Both complained of pain in the posterior muscles of the right thigh during the match against France. On Friday, the players underwent imaging tests which confirmed the muscle injuries. They were allowed to leave to continue their treatment. No other footballers will be called up to replace”.
