We know what fighters Poland wants to buy. The Ministry of National Defense has narrowed its choice significantly

It is no secret that the Polish army wants to expand its air fleet by two additional squadrons of fighters, but until now it was difficult to say which machine our country would choose. It seemed that the choice would come down to the F-35, F-15EX or Eurofighter Typhoon fighter, and it looks like the winner of this competition will actually be selected from these three.

The article continues below the video

This is indicated by the statement of General Wiesław Kukuła, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, who in a recent interview stated that Poland is only interested in purchasing 5th generation or newer fighters.

There can only be one choice?

There are currently only a handful of 5th generation fighters in the world: the Russian Su-57, the Chinese J-20 and J-35, and the American F-35. It is easy to understand that of the three, only the American fighter has a chance of winning the contract, so it looks like it will be the hero of the next aviation contract for the Polish army.

Another interesting fragment of Kukuła's statement regarding even newer fighters. It is possible that the general has in mind the program of the futuristic 6th generation fighter, which is being worked on jointly by Great Britain, Japan and Italy, and in which Poland is apparently also interested. However, this is a matter of the quite distant future, because this machine will probably enter service not earlier than in 10 years.

F-35 – what plane is this?

The F-35 Lightning II is a single-seat, multi-role stealth fighter, i.e. reduced detection by enemy radars, designed both to achieve air superiority and for missions aimed at attacking targets on the ground. The F-35 is also perfect for electronic warfare, reconnaissance and intelligence gathering tasks. In terms of its electronics and computer systems equipment, the F-35 is probably the most modern aircraft currently flying in the world.

The F-35 will soon officially join the Polish armed forces. The receipt of the first planes is planned for May – our country bought a total of 32 such machines as part of a contract worth USD 4.6 billion.
