Iran threatens to open “a new front” in the event of a US ground invasion. Targeting is another crucial strait

Iran will open “a new front” in the event of a US ground invasion in the Bab el-Mandeb, a crucial strait for world maritime traffic that connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden, warned a military source quoted by Iran's Tasnim news agency on Wednesday, according to AFP.
The only direct gateway to the Suez Canal, “the Bab el-Mandeb strait is among the most strategic straits in the world, and Iran has both the will and the ability to generate a perfectly credible threat against it,” warned the source, notes Agerpres.

“If the enemy will try a land action on the Iranian islands or anywhere else on our territory, or try to impose costs on Iran through naval maneuvers in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, we will open other fronts as a 'surprise',” added the military official quoted by Tasnim.
“Based on information, the enemies of Iran, with the support of one of the countries in the region, are preparing to occupy one of the Iranian islands. All the enemy's movements are closely monitored by our armed forces.
If they cross the limits, the entire vital infrastructure of that country in the region will become, without restrictions, the target of non-stop attacks,” Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf wrote on X.
When does the White House estimate that the war will end?
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt reiterated Wednesday afternoon that the time horizon for the Iran war is still four to six weeks.
Asked if the war would end before President Trump's visit to China, planned for mid-May, the White House press secretary said the time horizon for a cessation of hostilities remained the same.
“Again, like I said, I've always estimated about four to six weeks. So you could do the math,” Karoline Leavitt said in a White House press briefing on Wednesday, according to CNN.
She announced on Wednesday that the US president's trip to China, which was postponed after the start of the war with Iran, will take place on May 14-15.
