Two children fell from the floor in Bucharest in two consecutive days. How windows can be secured to prevent tragedies

Two children from the Capital, both 5 years old, lost their lives in two consecutive days (Sunday and Monday – March 22 and 23) after falling from the window of the 9th and 8th floors, respectively, writes the website Totuldespremame.ro.
The child who died on Monday, 23.03.2026, lived in a block of flats on Bulevardul Chisinau, Sector 2, and was in the apartment with his parents and sisters. According to sources close to the investigation, quoted by ProTV, there was no one else in the room from which he allegedly fell at that time. Less than 24 hours before this accident, in Sector 1 of the Capital, another 5-year-old boy lost his life after falling from the 9th floor of his home.
“A child under 7 has a lot of curiosities”
Cosmina Simiean, director general of DGASMB, interviewed by Pro TV, drew the attention of families with young children: “There are some rules that parents must know. There are a lot of systems in all DIY stores that did not exist 12, 15 years ago, which allow locking both doors and windows, like we have with drawers in the house. No matter how many precautions we take, let's always think that a child under 7 years old has a lot of curiosities.”
