Regional authorities asked to transfer nationalized enterprises to them

March 25 19:00

Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Region proposed transferring assets seized from their owners into regional ownership. The reason for the discussion was the fate of the Smak bakery, which in 2024 came under state control as part of the nationalization of the Makfa holding, writes Yamal 1.

At a meeting on March 23, deputy Vyacheslav Wegner said that such enterprises should remain under the jurisdiction of the region, since the local budget had previously invested in their development. In his words, “Smak” received significant subsidies from the Sverdlovsk region.

However, Chairman of the State Duma Committee Pavel Krasheninnikov explained that according to the law, nationalized property becomes exclusively federal property. The further fate of assets is determined by the state; most often they are put up for auction to replenish the budget.
