Vlad Ionescu, state councilor for foreign policy, and Diana Punga, state councilor for relations with civil society, were also part of the Romanian delegation, which was in the USA on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The summit, launched at the initiative of Melania Trump, aims to strengthen international cooperation for the well-being of children through education, technology and innovation.

“We spoke with American Councils for International Education leadership about expanding educational exchange programs, including the Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX). At Georgetown University, the Thrive Center for Families, Children and Communities team shared their experience in developing programs for responsible use of technology and safe digital platforms for children,” the state councilor sent.

Ana-Maria Geană adds that the day ended with a meeting between Romanian specialists from the USA, who work in the field of addictions, where they discussed possible collaborations with Romania for the prevention and treatment of addictions in children.

“The day ended with a round table with Romanian doctors from the United States, specialized in the problem of addiction and related fields: prevention, therapy, intervention, emergencies. This meeting was attended by established specialists in renowned clinical or research medical centers, and the discussions focused on possible forms of collaboration with Romania for the development of programs and solutions dedicated to the prevention and treatment of addictions in children.

This session highlighted the importance of international partnerships in health and child protection. Partnerships between Romania and the United States in the fields of education, technology and health remain essential for protecting and preparing new generations.”

The First Lady of the USA opened the summit with a speech in which she pleaded for the development and securing the future of children.

In her speech, Mirabela Grădinaru expressed her desire to collaborate with the participants for the development of concrete projects and presented two Romanian experts in the field of technology and digital transformation.

“I believe that this initiative is a very valuable one, generating momentum, visibility and a much-needed dynamism in this field.
