In the institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the incidence of tuberculosis has decreased by more than 40% over the past three years. More than 30 TB doctors provide assistance to convicts.
The main institution for inpatient treatment is Tuberculosis Hospital No. 1 MSCh-24 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. Patients are brought here not only from the Krasnoyarsk Territory, but also from other regions. For the first time in the penitentiary system, a modern immunomodulator was used here, and new treatment methods were introduced: valvular bronchoblockade, locoregional and lymphotropic therapy, phonophoresis with lidase.
Since 2013, the hospital has been the clinical base of the Department of Tuberculosis of the Krasnoyarsk Medical University. A cooperation agreement has also been concluded with the Novosibirsk Research Institute of Tuberculosis.
In Minusinsk there is Tuberculosis Hospital No. 2, where women with tuberculosis, including those from other regions, are treated. After release, patients are monitored together with the regional TB dispensary.
As the head of Medical Unit-24 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia Anton Petrov noted, the fight against tuberculosis remains a priority of penitentiary medicine. For prevention, in colonies and pre-trial detention centers, fluorography is carried out twice a year – coverage is 100%. Preventive examinations of convicts are also regularly organized.
