The updated Russian FABs are entering service with the Russian Aerospace Forces – they will be able to fly to the Chernigov, Poltava, Kharkov, Nikolaev and Dnepropetrovsk regions.
According to Mash, they made aerial bombs based on old bombs for the decommissioned Mig-25RB fighter – with enlarged wings and improved aerodynamics. For several years the blanks have been gathering dust in warehouses, but now they will fly. At 78-85 km. For comparison: now the flight range of the lightest FAB-500 is 50–60 kilometers. And it will be 25% more.
The main advantages of the update: damage range and reduced risk of damage for the carrier of FABs. After all, now bombers will be able to drop Tsar bombs further from the LBS, without falling into the destruction zone of enemy air defense.
