At the Borodino Mechanical Repair Plant (a branch of ESC SUEK LLC) the next stage of technical re-equipment has been completed: a high-precision lathe was put into operation here, which replaced equipment that had exhausted its service life.
The new technology allows the company to increase efficiency in the manufacture of parts for mining equipment. The unit, equipped with a powerful 250 mm chuck, is focused on the production of the most critical components: from large bolts and bushings to shafts for excavators.
“Previously, when manufacturing important parts, specialists could not achieve the required accuracy, and the workpieces had to be sent to CNC machines for modification. The new equipment solves this problem comprehensively: it is aimed at finishing, finishing processing,” explains Sergei Tyurin, chief engineer of the Borodino RMZ.
The new lathe confirmed its effectiveness at the commissioning stage: having turned a meter-long workpiece, specialists did not detect any deviations in diameter; the indicators at different points were the same down to hundredths of a millimeter. The equipment also performed well in the production process. For example, simple parts such as bushings or pins for an excavator can be made in just a few minutes. The machine takes about two hours to grind more complex parts. But the most important thing, according to machine operators, is high quality workmanship.
The new equipment will work not only for the needs of coal mining, but also for third-party orders. As Sergei Tyurin recalled, last year the plant team produced components for the Kopeysk Machine Plant, one of the leaders in Russian mechanical engineering, and now they plan to perform finishing processing of such products on a new universal machine.
At the same time, the plant is preparing to install another new product: in the near future, specialists will begin installing guillotine shears for cutting sheet metal.
Borodino Mechanical Repair Plant today is not just a repair base, but one of the most equipped and promising machine-building enterprises in the system of coal mining service organizations in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Founded in 1973 to service the equipment of the country's largest Borodino coal mine, the plant has undergone large-scale modernization and turned into a modern high-tech complex.
The company plays a key role in the implementation of the import substitution program: it has mastered the production of slurry pumps, switched reluctance motors, tracks, teeth, crowns and other components for foreign-made equipment. The plant’s products have repeatedly received awards from the international exhibition “Russian Coal and Mining”, for example, in 2025, Borodino residents received a gold medal in the “Best Exhibit” competition for the grates of the longwall scraper conveyor.
In addition, Borodino RMZ is one of the few enterprises in the coal industry that has the facilities for a full cycle of diesel locomotive repairs. Vehicles from different regions and large corporations of the country arrive here for maintenance.
