According to the New York Post, the woman was thrown violently from the plane after it collided with a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport on Sunday evening, March 22.
She was found by rescuers on the runway outside the wreckage, still strapped into her duty seat after being ejected from the aircraft on impact. Although he has serious injuries, doctors expect him to survive.
The incident took place on Sunday, March 23, at 23:47 local time. Flight AC-8646, operated by Jazz Aviation en route from Montreal to New York, was landing on runway 4. At the same time, an airport fire truck had received permission to cross the runway to respond to another emergency (a United Airlines plane reporting smoke in the cabin).
Investigators determined that at the time of impact, there was only one traffic controller in the control tower, simultaneously managing all takeoffs, landings, ground movements and coordination of response teams. Audio recordings capture the moment the controller realizes the error and desperately shouts to the fire engine: “STOP, STOP, STOP!”, just seconds before the collision.

The aircraft, a CRJ-900 model coming from Montreal, was traveling at about 39 km/h at the time of impact, according to Flightradar24 data. The impact was devastating, completely destroying the cockpit and first rows of the Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft.
Both pilots (captain and first officer) died.
There were 72 passengers and four crew members on board the plane. 41 people (including passengers and firefighters) are still hospitalized, while 32 have already been discharged.
