The gardener noticed that many people make a mistake when growing onions: they buy a set and immediately stick it into the ground, and then wonder why the onion went into the shoot, the onion fly ate it, or the head grew small. He noted that proper preparation of seedlings is 90% of a generous and high-quality harvest.
Before sowing onions, they need to be protected from bolting by keeping them in the solution. To prepare it, you need to dissolve 1 tsp in 0.5 liters of water. baking soda. The water should be 45–50 °C (hot, but not boiling water).
Before soaking, remove excess dry husks, which fall off on their own, but do not “undress” the onion completely. Immerse the seed in the solution for exactly one minute.
Hot water stops the bolting process, and soda disinfects the surface from fungus. Immediately after this, rinse the onion with cold water to harden it.
