VIDEO Angela Similea, open letter after a song was used without her consent in a Distrigaz and DSU campaign. What the artist says

Angela Similea declared, on Sunday, that she did not give her consent for the song “Casa mea” to be used in the information campaign initiated by Distrigaz Sud Rețele and the Department of Emergency Situations (DSU).
The chorus of the song can be heard in several clips of the campaign, which refers to the importance of carrying out checks and revisions at installations using natural gas, gas detectors and preventive measures.
In an open letter on social media, the famous light music singer said she was happy that her songs get to “accompany initiatives that have an important purpose”, but stressed “how important it is to respect the artistic work and the rights of those who create, regardless of the context”.
“I am happy when my music ends up accompanying initiatives that have an important purpose, especially when it comes to people's safety. I believe that such campaigns are necessary, they can save lives and can have a real impact. That is precisely why I choose to look at this moment with openness. At the same time, however, I feel the need to emphasize, with respect, that the use of this fragment was made without my permission being asked,” the artist wrote on Sunday on Facebook.
Angela Similea does not want the withdrawal of the material or compensations
The artist specified that she did not write the message “to request the withdrawal of the material nor to request any compensation”.
“I just want this gesture to be a starting point for more attention and dialogue in the relationship between companies, institutions and artists. A simple message would have been enough to turn this situation into a natural collaboration,” continued Angela Similea.
She said she hopes the initiative will be “an occasion for reflection, about how important it is to respect artistic work and the rights of those who create, regardless of the context.”
“Music does not only mean sound, but also work, emotion and a genuine connection with the public. And respect for this work is, I think, essential. Artists live by what they offer to the public, and the connection between us is one full of emotions and based on mutual respect”, explained the light music singer.
Angela Similea also stated that she wants the message of the campaign launched by Distrigaz Sud Rețeles and DSU “to reach as many people as possible and fulfill its purpose for which it was created”.
“At the same time, I hope that, in the future, collaborations between companies, institutions and artists will be built on transparency, communication and respect”, she also declared.
