Eight swans froze on Moara Domnească lake in Văleni township, Vaslui county. ISU Vaslui firefighters were requested to intervene, together with DSVSA and the Environmental Guard.

The swans trapped in the ice of the lake were noticed by a passerby, who notified the authorities.
“The Vaslui fire brigade intervenes at the request of DSVSA and the Environmental Guard to recover swan corpses from Moara Domnească lake. A search-rescue vehicle and an inflatable boat were assigned for the mission, both staffed with 1 officer and 3 non-commissioned officers”, initially sent the representatives of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to Vaslui. Following the intervention, the firefighters identified eight dead specimens, which were extracted from the lake and handed over to the representatives of the Veterinary Health and Food Safety Directorate.
The extreme weather has not passed, meteorologists warn that another frosty night is coming, four counties in the north and east of Moldova are under Yellow Code of frost: Succeava, Botoșani, Iasi and Vaslui.
“In the north and east of Moldova, temperatures will be particularly low and locally cold, especially during the night when thermal minimums between -13 and -8 degrees will be recorded. Temperatures around -10 degrees will also be maintained throughout Friday”. ANM warns. The yellow code is valid between January 15, 8:00 p.m. and January 16, 8:00 p.m., the phenomena concerned being particularly low temperatures and local frost.
