Ukrainian negotiators are on their way to the US to resume peace talks, Zelensky announces. “There was a break in the negotiations, it's time to end it”

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced on Thursday that the Ukrainian negotiating team is heading to the USA, where a meeting is scheduled on Saturday with the American negotiators, reports News.ro citing Ukrainska Pravda.

The Ukrainian president announced that there are signals from the American side regarding the readiness to continue the activity in the current negotiation formats to end Russia's war against Ukraine.

“There was a pause in the negotiations, it's time to end it. And we are doing everything to make the negotiations really substantial. The Ukrainian team – more precisely, the political part of the negotiating group – is already on the way, and this Saturday we expect a meeting in the United States of America. Today we discussed negotiations in detail with (Rustem) Umerov, as well as with Kirill Budanov and David Arahamia. Also, Sergey will participate in the meetings Kisliţa. Our priority is to do everything to have a chance for a dignified peace. And I thank all those who help us in this regard,” said Volodimir Zelenski.

The head of state also said that the secretary of the National Security Council, Rustem Umerov, visited the countries of the Middle East and has an idea about what security agreements can be concluded with them.

“This week, Rustem Umerov has been in the main capitals of the Gulf region and today he has already presented a report on the results. For now, by phone. Tomorrow there will be a more detailed report online. There is an understanding of new security agreements that can be concluded with the countries of this region. There are concrete aspects in which they can support our country, they can support our defense – primarily air defense – and there are aspects in which we can and already support them. The groups of Ukrainian experts for protection against “suicide bombers” are already in the respective countries, and they report daily on the fulfillment of their tasks,” Zelenskiy said.

On March 13, Volodymyr Zelensk said that Ukraine is ready for a new round of negotiations on ending the war, but the place and time of the meeting have not yet been set due to the different positions of the US and Russia.

Zelenski also insists on the need for a meeting with US President Donald Trump, because “there are some issues that are not standing still.”

At the same time, the press reported that Trump is losing interest in negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the war launched by Russia against Ukraine, as he is now focusing on Iran.

On March 3, the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said that the break in the negotiations between Ukraine, the US and Russia is temporary and can end after all parties coordinate their programs, primarily the American side.
