Since early 2026, Ukrainian drone units have focused on striking artillery, drone operators, ground communications lines and Russian troop assembly areas, analysts say.
On March 17, the command of the drone battalion in the Liman direction reported that frequent attacks on communication systems demoralize the enemy and complicate coordination on the front line, the report says.
The Lasar's Group unit of the National Guard published a video on March 19 showing how Ukrainian drones destroyed an entire battery of Russian Grad multiple launch rocket systems in the Pokrovsk direction.
The military notes that the battery consisted of six rocket launchers.
In addition, military analysts note that Ukraine is conducting mid- and long-range strikes against Russian air defense systems, radar stations and launchers, which makes it possible to hit other important targets behind enemy lines. According to open sources, the number of such strikes has quadrupled since November 2025, to 45 strikes per month.
The report also informs that, according to estimates by the General Staff of Ukraine and international analytical projects, during the winter period of 2025–2026, Ukrainian troops destroyed more than 80 Russian air defense systems and radars. Thanks to these strikes, Ukraine is achieving local tactical gains and complicating the preparation of artillery for a possible Russian spring-summer offensive in 2026, military analysts conclude.
