The American company Lyten is starting work on a feasibility study regarding the creation of an industrial center in Gdańsk, which is to combine production activities, development of energy infrastructure and solutions in the field of artificial intelligence and the defense sector.

The project called Lyten Industrial Hub is to be built around the existing Lyten Dwa (formerly Northvolt Dwa) production plant and R&D center in Stogi, Gdańsk. It is the largest production plant for battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Europe.
The intention to create an industrial center was announced on Friday at the plant.
During the meeting, Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański emphasized that Pomerania and Gdańsk are becoming a symbol of the energy transformation in Poland.
– Geopolitical tensions are rising. It is clear to everyone that without energy security we cannot think about economic security, he emphasized.
He added that the Polish government is building a new, stable energy system that will ensure the country's security for decades. – Poland is the largest energy transformation site in Europe. A nuclear power plant is being built, and wind investments are being developed in the Baltic Sea. Electrification is becoming an essential tool for building the strength, competitiveness and resilience of the economy. We are developing energy storage facilities and expanding transmission networks so that they are ready for the challenges of a changing energy mix, he emphasized.
He assessed that the investment of the American company in Gdańsk proves that foreign partners recognize the potential and importance of Poland in the dimension of transformation and energy security. He emphasized that technological progress and economic development would not be possible without investment in people.
– Poland has one of the largest groups of qualified scientists and engineers in Europe. I am convinced that the cooperation of Polish scientists and specialists with our American partners will be a strong impulse to create innovative solutions, said Domański.
Lyten Industrial Hub in Gdańsk is to be the company's second industrial center of this type in Europe. In February this year the company established its first center on the site of the former Northvolt Ett plant in Skelleftea.
After achieving full production capacity, the Swedish center is expected to generate over USD 10 billion. investments and provide thousands of permanent jobs.
– We are entering a new era of infrastructure development, which has the potential to meet the growing demand for electricity, artificial intelligence-enabled data centers and the needs of the defense sector in the coming decades. We are creating strategically located industrial centers to combine advanced materials and battery energy storage systems with digital AI infrastructure. We believe that Poland has the right talents and infrastructure and is interested in public-private partnerships that will enable the development of Lyten Industrial Hub, said Dan Cook, CEO and co-founder of the company.
In 2026, Lyten plans to conduct a feasibility study that will assess the production potential of the offered devices, possibilities of cooperation with private and public partners, and requirements regarding energy and municipal infrastructure.
As the president of Lyten Poland, Robert Chryc-Gawrychowski, told PAP, the plant in Gdańsk has equipment enabling the production of 6 GWh of energy storage per year, with the possibility of expansion to 12 GWh in the future. The facility has an area of 25,000 m2. square meters. Since October 2025, it has been under the control of an American investor.
Lyten is a world leader in lithium-sulfur batteries and advanced 3D graphene materials. The company has over 550 patents and provides innovative solutions, including: for the defense, aviation and energy industries. (PAP)
