Robert Ludera, director of the flight network office of LOT Polish Airlines, announced during Wednesday's briefing at the Krakow airport that the development of the flight network from the capital of Małopolska is related to the carrier's successive acquisition of new aircraft and the implementation of its development strategy both at the capital Okęcie and at regional airports.

– Later this year, we will start receiving new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from the Seattle factory. These planes will help us implement our strategy, they will help us grow in our home port in Warsaw (…), but these planes will also serve us to implement another pillar of the development of our strategy – this pillar is the development in Polish regional airports – announced the director.

According to him, Kraków Airport plays a very important role in the development strategy of PLL LOT. He recalled that the carrier currently operates from this airport on international routes to: Istanbul, Chicago, Paris-Orly, Tel Aviv, as well as on domestic routes to Warsaw and Olsztyn.

Ludera estimated that the introduction of flights to Barcelona, Madrid and Rome into the schedule from March 31 next year will be the largest single increase in the history of the carrier's presence at the Krakow airport.

– Our plans for next year assume that we will transport up to 800,000. passengers per year – announced the director.

As he noted, the national carrier will compete with other airlines on the new connections, but it counts on the success of the new offer, because its launch results from the company's research and the expectations expressed by passengers.

Connections between Krakow and Barcelona, Madrid and Rome will be year-round; to Barcelona will be operated four times a week, to Madrid six times a week and to Rome five times a week.

– These are frequencies for the summer season, in the winter season we will monitor the market behavior, but these will be year-round connections – noted the representative of LOT Polish Airlines.

The president of Kraków Airport, Łukasz Strutyński, said that the announcement of such a major expansion of the national carrier's network of connections is a special day for the airport. – We estimate that the increase in LOT's presence at Kraków Airport next year will be 40%. – said the president.

LOT's offer includes direct long-haul flights to ports in the United States, Canada, India, Japan and South Korea. The company also operates direct flights to many European capitals.
