Iran's new supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has issued a call to deprive domestic and foreign enemies of “security,” the AP reported on Friday.

Khamenei's statement was sent on his behalf to President Masoud Pezeshkian after the Israeli attack that killed Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib.
As emphasized by the AP, Khamenei has not yet appeared in public even though he has been appointed the supreme spiritual and political leader of Iran. His inaugural speech was read by a television announcer, and no verified photo or video of the new leader has been released. There were speculations that he could have been killed, injured or seriously disfigured as a result of the US and Israeli attacks, emphasized the opposition website Iran International.
Mojtaba Khamenei succeeded his father, 86-year-old Ali Khamenei, as supreme leader, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the first day of the war, February 28. (PAP)
