March 20 18:50
Specialists from Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor explained why pectin is useful and in what products to look for it.
Pectin – a natural prebiotic that stimulates the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestines and normalizes its functioning. It also acts as a natural sorbent: it binds harmful substances, lowers cholesterol levels, and reduces the risk of cancer and allergic diseases.
In the food industry, pectin obtained from fruits is added to marshmallows, marshmallows, marmalade, dairy products, desserts, ice cream and drinks.
But doctors warn: the daily intake should not exceed 20-25 grams. In case of an overdose, diarrhea, bloating, skin rash, as well as impaired absorption of proteins, fats and important microelements – iron, calcium and phosphorus – are possible.
