Here's what Americans think about Donald Trump's idea. They agree


These are the conclusions from the latest Ipsos survey for Reuters. According to the study, 65 percent Americans believe that Trump will order troops to Iran. At the same time, only 7 percent supports such an idea.

Overall approval for the US president remains at 40%. This is an increase of one percentage point compared to the survey conducted immediately after the US and Israel attack on Iran on February 28. The study involved 1,545 American adults.

On Wednesday, Reuters reported that the Trump administration was considering sending thousands of troops to the Middle East to strengthen the US military's presence in the region. Possible actions included using the air force and navy to protect tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz and deploying troops near Iran.

Reuters also reported that the presidential administration was considering sending troops to the island of Khark, through which 90 percent of the oil exports from Iran. In a conversation with reporters, Trump said that he did not intend to send troops, and if he were to do so, he would not inform about it in advance. — The United States will not send its troops to Iran, he announced.

The survey shows that 77 percent Republicans supporting Trump support the current U.S. military actions against Iran, while the percentage among Democrats is only 6% and 28% among independents.

In total, 37 percent Americans declare support for the war, while 59 percent is against it, including one in five Republicans. The study also showed that 63 percent Republicans and 34 percent all Americans would support sending a small number of special forces to Iran. 55 percent respondents oppose the deployment of any land forces, regardless of the scale of the operation.
