The unexpected unloading is one of the consequences of the third-week-long war between the United States and Israel against Iran. Ships loaded with cars sailing to the United Arab Emirates did not dare to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, which is fully controlled by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The first ship with 469 cars on board was unloaded on Lamu last week. Another one, sailing under the French flag, Grande Florida, with about 3.8 thousand. cars moored there on Tuesday, and another transport ship with 5,000 is approaching the Kenyan shore. luxury cars, said Lamu Port General Manager Abdulaziz Mzee.

On Wednesday, William Ruto – the namesake of Kenya's president – told the media that the port is preparing for a “surge inflow of ships” in the coming days due to hostilities in Middle Eastern waters.

The cars will remain in Kenyan warehouses until the situation stabilizes, according to information from the port authority posted on X.

The ports of the United Arab Emirates, where luxury goods were supposed to be delivered, were attacked by Iranian ballistic missiles and drones at the beginning of March in retaliation for the US and Israeli attacks that began on February 28 and for the assassination of Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.
