Clubul Oțelul Galati has definitively escaped insolvency, following the sentence announced on Wednesday by the Galati Court of Appeal.

On February 4, The Galati Court ordered the entry into insolvency of the Oțelul Galați club, based on a debt to Stiven Plaza, registered at the club between February and June 2025.

The Super League club paid the 11,250 euros, and on February 13 appealed the decision and succeeded in suspending the procedure of insolvency through an extraordinary remedy, a presidential order, which allows the court “to order provisional measures in urgent cases”, “to prevent imminent and irreparable damage”.

Steel had argued that staying insolvent until the appeal was heard would have prevented it from obtaining the Super League license. This is because he would not have had time to draw up and have a reorganization plan approved, a mandatory condition for insolvent teams applying for a League 1 license. Consequently, at the end of the season he would have been relegated regardless of the position occupied.
