Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka said on Thursday that renewable energy sources are profitable and worth investing in. As he added, they provide sovereignty and independence, and an attempt to “retreat from the energy transformation path is contrary to the Polish raison d'état.”

– Renewable energy sources are profitable and it is worth investing in them. They give sovereignty and independence. Today, Poland's attempt to retreat from the energy transformation path is contrary to the Polish raison d'état. Investing in sources that we can produce and store energy on site gives us certainty and independence, said the head of the Ministry of Energy, Miłosz Motyka, during a conference in Lidzbark Warmiński.

He added that “although energy is now at the center of discussions at the European and national level, it really takes place at the local government level.”

Energy transformation is not a slogan but an opportunity for companies, for citizens, for independent energy, produced on site, which guarantees lower electricity prices – he added.

He emphasized that the government will talk about green energy “even when it is under political pressure.”

– We will point to the economic calculation, to the fact that it is simply profitable for people. Poles have invested in renewable energy sources. We have three Bełchatów power plants on the roofs of Polish houses, and not because Ursula von der Leyen or anyone from Brussels forced them to do it, but because it is simply profitable for them.. Poles are enterprising, know how to count and want to live in a healthy environment – added the head of the Ministry of Energy.

The minister was asked about the proposal of Przemysław Czarnek (PiS), who claims that leaving the ETS would reduce energy bills by several dozen percent. The head of the Ministry of Energy, Miłosz Motyka, replied that “by voting for PiS, Poles will decide that they will pay even more for energy in the future.”

– Either we trust those who want to carry out the energy transformation and we want to follow the path of cheaper technologies and lower bills, or we will face a return to the past, to the expensive past. This is the path that Czarnek is choosing and, along with the bill, he wants to throw another hundred or two hundred zlotys in subsidies into this expensive project – he emphasized.

As Motyka assessed, during the previous government “the energy sector was inefficient and we subsidized energy prices from the pockets of every taxpayer.” (PAP)
