Former minister Ilan Laufer was fined following the accident in which he was involved on Tuesday morning, when he crossed a pedestrian crossing on an electric scooter, together with his two children, and was hit by a vehicle.

Former minister Ilan Laufer was fined following the accident on Tuesday morning.
He received a fine of 2,430 lei for violating several traffic rules, i.e. driving an electric scooter on the sidewalk adjacent to Mircea Vulcănescu Street, transporting two minors on the same vehicle at the time of reaching the pedestrian crossing and engaging in crossing it without getting off the scooter, colliding with a motor vehicle.
The police said about the road accident on Mircea Vulcănescu Street:
“The traffic police arrived at the scene and found that what was reported was confirmed, as it was an accident, in which a car and an electric scooter were involved. From the first data, the driver of the electric scooter, a 42-year-old man, would have transported two minors on the scooter”, states the Traffic Police. According to the cited source, “considering that only material damage resulted, the people involved were referred to the Minor Accidents Bureau for resolution. Both drivers were tested with the breathalyzer device, the indicated results being “zero””it is stated in the specifications of the Traffic Police.
About the accident, Laufer said that he was taking the children to kindergarten. “I got off to cross a pedestrian crossing. A lady looked the other way to see if there was a car coming, she wasn't paying attention to the crossing. Defensive leadership expert Titi Aur issued a stern warning, criticizing the former minister's gesture.
“The law says that only one person is allowed on the electric scooter. He did wrong. The fact that he put his kids on the scooter shows how oblivious we are as a people. My surprise is all the greater since Ilan Laufer is not an uneducated person, coming from I don't know what hamlet, to say that he didn't know what he was exposing himself to. He was a minister, an educated, cultured person. But, nevertheless, the road safety chapter does not exist among Romanians. What Ilan Laufer did is completely illegal, but even more so completely immoral. You are completely unconscious when you take it upon yourself to put the 5-year-old twins on the electric scooter next to you. And in the car, the little ones must be put on the seat, with a belt. This is not the first accident involving Ilan Laufer's family.
Three years ago, the former Minister of the Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship, in the period 2017-2018, Ilan Harry Laufer, was involved in a road accident in Câmpina. He and his family were transported to the hospital for medical investigations.
