FSUE NAMI is a shareholder of Aurus and has been developing them since 2013. On September 2, they announced a tender for the purchase of a Mercedes-Benz S 680 GUARD 4Matic, a luxury car that can withstand bombs and anti-tank ammunition.
They wanted a modest package: massage-ventilation, heated shoulder and neck areas, door closers, a nappa leather steering wheel, a fingerprint scanner, an automatic fire extinguishing system and many, many other essentials.
But the thrill of owning an armored limousine was ruined by publicity – the tender was announced on the government procurement website, it was noticed, circulated and condemned. There is only one leitmotif: why they chose Mercedes instead of Aurus. As a result, on September 3, the purchase was canceled “due to a technical error.”
