Adrian Câciu apologized to the PNL senator after the nervous exit: “Regret. It was a slip”

PSD deputy Adrian Câciu said that he regrets the exit he had in an exchange of words with PNL senator Gabriela Horga during Tuesday's debates in the budget-finance committees on the subject of the state budget for 2026.

The social democrat apologized to the liberal.

“I will take this moment to apologize to my colleague, Mrs. Gabriela Horga, for going out earlier, during the day. I want to tell you that I regret it and it is not what characterizes me. It was a slip that came after those accusations that we are liars and irresponsible. But even so, I should not have this attitude”, said Adrian Câciu, quoted by Agerpres.

Nervous exit of the former PSD minister

On Tuesday, during the debates in the budget-finance committee, Adrian Câciu started shouting and grabbed PNL senator Gabriela Horga by the arm, with whom he had an exchange of words on the subject of the debts of the companies subordinated to the ministry.

Câciu, vice president of the commission, was talking about the arrears quotas, which had been indicated by the PSD as an additional source of income. Horga, president of the commission, accused him of lying when he says that a package of measures can be financed in this way, “as you have done countless times when we talk about the budget.”

At one point, the social democratic deputy lost his temper.

“I asked a question, I want an answer! I want an answer!” Adrian Câciu shouted at the liberal president of the commission, grabbing her arm.

The liberals demanded the sanctioning of Câciu

After the moment in the commission, the PNL sent a statement in which it requested the PSD and the leadership of the Chamber of Deputies “to define and sanction the repeated aggressive behavior of the PSD deputy, Adrian Câciu”. The Liberals said they would also refer the National Council for Combating Discrimination (CNCD).

“The Liberal National Party strongly condemns the violent gesture of the PSD deputy Adrian Câciu, manifested during today's meeting of the Budget-Finance Committee, towards the PNL senator Gabriela Horga”, the liberals wrote in a post on Facebook.

PNL accused Adrian Câciu of “relapsing in his misogynistic and, recently, even xenophobic attitude”.

“Such behavior is unacceptable anywhere, not only in a legislative forum of a democratic state,” the liberals also wrote.

The PNL also recalled the incident last week, during the hearings in the Foreign Policy Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, when Adrian Câciu told the chairman of the meeting, deputy Hajdu Gabor, that “he is from the UDMR” and “you don't understand what it means to be Romanian”. Contacted by HotNews, Câciu said that he regretted the slip-up and that he later had a discussion with his colleague from UDMR.
