In the department of early medical rehabilitation of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Hospital No. 20 named after I.S. Berzona started its work as a psychological assistance club for recovery after a heart attack.
According to the regional Ministry of Health, the opening of the psychological club was a continuation of the development of the hospital’s rehabilitation service, which is one of the region’s leading sites for the recovery of patients after vascular accidents.
“It is the work of a clinical psychologist that occupies an important place in the correction of emotional and volitional disorders that arise in patients who have suffered a heart attack,” noted the head of the department, neurologist Sergei Kabysh.
The launch of a psychological assistance club takes rehabilitation work to a new level. If previously interaction with a psychologist was purely individual in the ward, the club format involves group classes and the creation of a community.
“For patients who have suffered acute myocardial infarction and other serious diseases of the cardiovascular system, socialization is of great importance. After such events, the patient faces not only physical limitations, but also severe psychological stress, anxiety for his health and fear of repeated attacks. In the club, people with similar experiences will be able to receive professional support, connect with each other and share recovery stories. Such interaction makes it easier to adapt to new living conditions, increases motivation for rehabilitation, and is especially important for patients with cardiovascular diseases, for whom it is important not only medical treatment, but also emotional support,” commented medical psychologist Marina Fedoskina.
According to experts, preventive work is also aimed at preventing risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. In particular, stress management skills are developed, a healthy lifestyle is maintained, treatment adherence is increased and behavioral habits are changed. This work is especially relevant because prevention and control of risk factors play a key role in preventing recurrent attacks and maintaining the quality of life of patients.
