“It would be the biggest surprise in the history of Romanian football”

The champion missed qualifying for the play-off for the first time, and the play-out wasn't right at the start either. At the debut of Mirel Rădoi on the technical bench, FCSB drew at home with Metaloglobus, score 0-0.

The Red-Blues are in 9th place at the moment, with 24 points, tied with FC Botoșani and one point behind UTA Arad.

The top two finishers go to the Conference playoff if they have a license. At this moment, four teams from the play-out have submitted the file for the European license: FCSB, FC Botoșani, Farul and Csikszereda.

Angelescu has no doubts about FCSB: “I don't think so”

The President of Rapid is convinced that FCSB will play that Conference League tie. If this does not happen, it would be a huge surprise in his view.

“It would be the biggest surprise in the history of Romanian football, I don't think so. If the championship lasted two more stages, they would enter the play-offs. Sepsi's relegation was also shocking, but such surprises happen once every 20-30 years.

They have the most valuable lot in the play-out, they will definitely catch the barrier, there are four teams with rights”, said Angelescu, on the show “Fotbal Show”, from Prima Sport.

For FCSB, the duel at home with UTA Arad follows. The game was scheduled for March 20, starting at 19:00.

• If only one team among the top 4 placed in the play-out has the European license, then it goes directly to the play-off final;

• If none of them have the right to participate in the European cups, then the tie is cancelled;

• The semi-final of the Conference pool, between the play-out teams, will be played on May 23 or 24;

• The final of the Conference bracket, between the play-out team and the play-off team, will be played on May 31;
