Băsescu indicates the measures Romania should take after Iran's threat: “A problem for each of us”

Traian Băsescu commented on the threat coming from Iran and explained that preventive measures must be taken when “no one can say that 100% nothing happens to us”.
The former president offered as an example the actions of the authorities in Sweden, where “a real preparation of the population for any kind of situation” takes place.
A spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, warned on Monday that Tehran will react politically and legally after Romania gave the green light to the United States to use military bases in operations against Iran, according to the opposition publication Iran International, reporting from London.
Traian Băsescu was asked, Monday evening, on B1 TV, what measures he believes Romania should take in this situation.
“Militarily, I think that all the measures have been taken, and maybe here the Army itself could be a little more open, to create a sense of security for the population that we have the means to react, because the population is left with the story of the drones that we can't bring down in any way. So maybe the Army should be a little more open, on the one hand,” declared the former president.
In addition, Băsescu continued, “The government should prepare the citizens.”
“I think it wouldn't be a sin if the ladies who keep pickles in the shelters under the buildings took their pickles from there, if these underground shelters were sanitized and, in case something happens, they could go down to a shelter. So I think that the problem of protection in the event of a possible Iranian missile attack is not only a problem of the state, it's also a problem of each of us,” explained the former head of state.
Băsescu, about American equipment in Romania: “Extremely offensive”
The former president mentioned that the equipment brought by the US army to Romania is “extremely offensive”.
“They are extremely offensive equipment, I would say, because the supply aircraft do not supply any CAP, but directly aircraft that are heading towards Iran to bomb. They do not throw flowers from these planes, but bombs”, said Traian Băsescu.
He believes that in the current context “no one can say that nothing happens to us 100%”.
“In such situations, no one can say that 100% nothing happens to us, or at the level of a state, when there is no 100% certainty that nothing happens, measures are taken to prevent that 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, as much as it means risk”, the former president also declared.
