A house with a unique voice, on a quiet street in the old slum of Bucharest fiddlers. How Delavrancea's villa became the residence of Ion Dolănescu

As you walk through the center of Bucharest, somewhere very close to Piața Pieței CA Rosetti, there is a quiet street hiding, which seems to avoid the chaos of today's city.

Surprisingly, a stone's throw from the traffic on Carol I boulevard, the place retains the atmosphere of the old Bucharest neighborhoods.

It is Caimatei and it is one of the shortest historical streets in the old city center.

What is remarkable here is that, out of 21 buildings, 8 are historical monuments. On Caimatei you can probably find the highest density of heritage buildings.

In one of these wonderful houses from other times there was always music. Here, at the beginning of the 20th century, George Enescu gave recitals, and in the 80s, Ion Dolănescu and his guests also sang here, famous being the Saint Ion parties.

Read, on B365.ro, the story of the building at 12, built at the beginning of the 20th century by Barbu Delavrancea, writer, lawyer and mayor of Bucharest.
