The Wagner group withdraws from one of its theaters of operations: “We have fulfilled our main mission”

The Russian Mercenari Wagner group, which played a crucial role in the Ukraine war until the failed rebellion led by its founder, Evgheni Prigojin, who died in August 2023 in a mysterious plane accident, announced on Friday the withdrawal from Mali, after a mission of more than three years in this country from the African region.
“The mission has ended. Wagner private military company returns home,” the Telegram channel “Razgruzka Wagnera”, close to the group.
“For three and a half years, the” musicians “fought against shoulder terrorism with the people of Mali. I annihilated thousands of fighters and their commanders, who for years have terrorized the civilian population ”, adds the group in the same announcement.
She believes that, during the mission in Mali, she helped “local patriots to create a strong and disciplined army, capable of defending their land.” “And we have fulfilled our main mission: all the regional capitals have undergone the control of the legitimate authorities,” the Russian group of mercenari also argues.
Russia and its new African allies from the Sahel, Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso region, accused Ukraine last week of training and arming with Western weapons the terrorist groups acting in this region.
Following some military coups, these countries in Sahel broke the security agreements with France and forced it to withdraw their troops from the region where he had a historical presence in his former African colonies.
Last April, Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso formed a confederation, called the Sahel (AES) alliance and focused on security and defense in this region where several jihadist groups are active.
After moving away from France and the West in general, these African countries turned to Russia, which offered them assistance with the help of mercenari groups, especially the Wagner group, and which currently increases military cooperation with the countries of Sahel who provide military equipment and trains them.
