The Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 20% of world demand for oil, has become a place of intensive monitoring among traders and observers of the energy industry. Since conflict broke out in the region last month, ship traffic through this bottleneck has been drastically restricted.
Karachi, built in 2022, loaded oil in the United Arab Emirates, but according to preliminary readings is not fully loaded. As noted by Bloomberg, the ship's route, like that of other vessels that ventured out of the strait, ran close to the Iranian coast.
