U Cluj – CFR, the Transylvanian derby in the play-off

It was a very difficult time. My assistants replaced me well, I'm glad that the players also did very well. They showed ambition and played very nice matches. It's a coincidence that I'm coming right back against the team that episode was against. I want us to win this game, my comeback is the last thing on my mind. I want to start the play-off right, I saw that it was also a surprise, anything can happen. It will be an extraordinary play-off. We meet the most in-form team, 11 wins in a row, a team with a well-defined style and difficult to beat.
– Cristiano Bergodi, U Cluj coach

9of the 22 goals scored by the “students” on the first stage in 2026 were successful from set pieces, and another six on the counterattack

It's a derby, big egos are at stake. We are two teams with a similar, fantastic track record. The only difference between us in the second leg is the direct match. We meet a well-organized team, with technique, experience, speed. It's a team with a high chance of winning this championship, like the others in the play-offs. I don't know if there will be many goals. I would like us not to concede a goal and to get at least one point. It was a strange week, on Wednesday we still didn't know what day we were playing, after all we play Monday-Friday, the only ones who do. We have players who are still not 100% on the fourth day. We hope that the fittest, fittest ones will perform very well. The tactical details will matter.
– Daniel Pancu, CFR Cluj coach
