Images of lost paintings by Kandinsky, Kuprin, Rodchenko and other legendary artists…

Images of lost paintings by Kandinsky, Kuprin, Rodchenko and other legendary artists were restored using AI. 82 years later. All of them were kept in the collection of the Voronezh Museum, but were destroyed by the Germans in 1942.
Voronezh gallery owners explain that the project is just an experiment and a hypothesis. After all, the invaders destroyed all the paintings remaining after the evacuation. However, detailed descriptions of the paintings were found in the museum archives. This is an ordinary text that describes in detail the plots, compositions, objects and colors of the disappeared masterpieces. For example:

Kandinsky Vasily Vasilievich, Ship at the pier. Oil on canvas 80×71, inv. No. 794. The painting depicts a ship, seen from above, approaching the pier. There are several sailing boats near the pier. Predominant colors: green, blue, yellow and pink. No signature.

It is impossible to say exactly what it all looked like. But after 82 years, the descriptions were put into a neural network + the context was explained in detail. And the machine produced images. Now they have finally been shown – at the tenth international Forum of United Cultures in St. Petersburg. There are 14 works in total. Some of them are in front of you.
