“Iran will respond to any attack on its energy facilities,” the minister wrote after US airstrikes on military facilities on Khark Island, an Iranian oil hub.

“The attack on Khark Island was carried out from the territory of neighboring countries. The United States is firing missiles from a neighboring country using HIMARS launchers,” said the Iranian minister, quoted by Iran International. “We will certainly respond to these attacks,” he stressed.

Earlier, US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that US forces struck more than 90 military targets on Khark Island. “The attack destroyed sea mine depots, underground missile depots and many other military facilities,” the command said, emphasizing that it did not attack oil infrastructure.

On Saturday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it had attacked branches of American banks in the Persian Gulf countries, Reuters reported. This was in retaliation for the shelling of Iranian banks. (PAP)
